Celebrating 50 years of service to Marin and surrounding counties. Jim Keith and wife, Margaret, founded Aurora in 1961. Known then by the name "Aurora Plastics," the company originally started as a plastic laminate countertop fabrication shop, but grew to include many other products.

In 1965, a well-known contractor in Marin, Johnny Riberio, approached Jim to start the fabrication of cabinets. He needed someone to build quality cabinets in a timely manner and Aurora would do just that, and still is today. When Corian was introduced to the market in the early 70's, we were one of the first fabrication shops to work with it. Now, Aurora is known for not just plastic laminate countertops, so we decided to change our name in 1989 to Aurora Cabinets & Countertops, Inc. Plastic no longer has the same meaning in our market today as it did in 1961.

When the early 90's recession hit, we once again had to change with the times. We added a showroom and became a factory direct dealer for several lines of cabinetry. Now, we have the ability to service anyone. At Aurora, we give our customers the best quality and value for their dollar, and individualized service. Our customers become our extended family.

In 1993, the second generation followed in Jim's footsteps. Daughter Donna, who came back in 1987 to help with the bookkeeping and son, Marty, who returned after college in 1989, to work in the cabinet fabrication shop, are now the proud owners of Aurora. If you ask us how long we have been with the company, our reply will be, "all of our lives - we grew up here."
